V day
hahas this is my 100th post!!! and its valentines day too!!!
but i am not going to blog about valentines day cause it was kinda mundane for me =(
I will blog about my trip to the barber!
Our class had a attire check on wednesday, and cause my hair was too long, i was caught.
I wanted to cut it but the salon only opens today, the salon that i often go.
I made two trips down and in both trips, the salon was filled with aunties who tried to be assholes. The first trip was made when i was on my way back from school, i walked all the way to the salon and peered through the glass doors. Seeing that there were some people inside, i ventured in to ask how long the waiting time was, the barber said 30 minutes, and the asshole lady beside him had to add in " Go drink a few cups of water and come back" ( in chinese) her asshole friends laughed at her joke( or her lousy attempt at a joke). I walked out of the salon without taking a second glance at that jackass. I was pissed. i wanted to point a finger at that aunty while walking away but i decided against it, i hate people who try to be funny when they are not. Why dont the aunty try walking a %*#&#ing long distance from the interchange to the salon just to be told to wait another 30 minutes and some F-ed up joke. She will be feeling F-ing pissed too.
Second time i went down, i noticed that the salon was still kinda filled with people. So i went down the row of shops and came across this barber shop. It was kinda old school with pictures of old hairstyles painting the whole shop. I felt uneasy about entering such barber shops cause they do not give me an upmarket image and i felt that the barber would give me a lousy cut. But i went in anyway after being reminded of that F-ed up experience at the salon. An old elderly man greeted me in chinese and told me that it was only 8 dollars for cutting my hair as a JC student. I sensed his hospitality and i went to have a sit on the chair. The uncle was friendly throughout and kept asking me to tell him if i wanted any request. THis is the first time in all my hair cutting experience that i have been constantly asked earnestly how i wanted my hair to look. All the other bastard salon owners either have their own opinion and or alter ego and would not hesistate to tell me how i should look. Even if they asked of my opinion, it would be with such pretense at trying to please the customer. Either this uncle has very good acting skills, or he is just genuine of what he says. I could tell he was trying very hard to show me that he can be as good as those other salons who charge more and how versatile he could be. It was his hardworking spirit that moved me and how genuine he was throughout the whole process. He could be as old as my grandfather but he was quite nimble. I applaud his concern throughout the cutting process and though his skills are not quite up notch, i can simply overlook it as he as proved to be a good barber. This is in such stark contrast to assholes next door, literally.
Guess i will be looking forward to go back there again.
