Everyday i come home like around 7 plus due to choir, not that i dont like choir but what the hell, everyday of the week. This is really eating into my well being in the area of sleep. Sigh had a sore throat for like a week already and today i had to sing some super high notes for boys. My throat felt like a thread over stretched until the point of breaking it. I think choir people should train our vocal techniques first before introducing us to the songs, since i have no pior background to music or singing.
Just now on the way home, i was really disturbed by this sight. It was this well dressed lady who was properly groomed scavaging through the donation point outside the salvation army. She was like hunting for something that was of use to her and she did not look like she was really in need of something. First she ransacked the place where people usually drop off clothes and bags, then after finding nothing valuable, she moved to the toy section. By that time i was already up the flight of stairs at the overhead bridge and was throughly disgusted at that sight.Someone should put a THOU SHALL NOT STEAL sign there to fend off this ugly thieves in the vicinity.
The good thing i learnt today was during my civics lesson. The project work question from cambridge was given out in class and as you know the retainees didnt have to do it again. Or rather they cannot. i have always had a very bad or negative impression of retainees as the rowdy and aloof bunch of retainees in Jurong JC had etched so deeply a negative connotation to the word retainee. Thus it was no different in my class. I shall be honest and admit that i do to some extent look down on them. howevery things took a different turn today.I remember what the civics teacher said which really hit me hard. She said" You guys are very lucky to have senior J1's in your class! they have greater experience in PW and can really help you along !" WOW that really hit me especially the first part in which we are lucky to have retainees in our class. I never ever had that thought before until today. This really changed my perception of them and now i can honestly without blinking say that i do not look down on the retainees anymore. I have always associated them with words like lazy or untidy or just plain stupid but never greater experience. But now i see the good points in them and this really covers up the bad points that they have. I must admit i am rather naive or foolish to think that i am greater than them in many ways, but now i know that they too are precious in the class. Really thankful for this eye opener , thanks Civics teacher!

I am officially in 07s22 IN PJc now! wow my class has like 28 students with like 6 girls(only) and a huge massive 22 boys intake. Sigh why so little girls. All the boys look like they want to pick a fight and the retainee looks like hes very BU Shuang with the class. Reminder to self, it is only the first day and things will turn out fine. My civics tutor is Mrs angie ng or was it ang....Shes really strict about grooming and she tried to speak to us in perfect english though she is a chinese teacher, good effort i would say. However when writing down the timetable, for mother tongue she happily wrote (chinese) beside it not realising we have an indian in our class. Gee teachers nowadays, outright discrimination. Bad.
I would like to voice my opinion on someones opinion from the straits times forum in home today which is the 19 of march 2007. Dear mr joel chia ze hong wrote that he is disturbed by the fact that a rapist could own a pet shop. let me type out his concerns.
I was disturbed by the article, "rapist gets 16 years, 10 strokes' (st march 10) not only because of the young age of the victim and the offender's lack of remorse, but also because of the fact that someone with such a history of crime, violence and gang activites could be allowed to own a pet shop. the clientele of a pet shop would definitely include young people and children. furthermore, no one knows what hurt or harm he had done the the animals under his care. in some countries, former offenders are not allowed to own businesses. although i belive that we should give ex-offenders a chance to turn over a new leaf and encourage them to be gain fully employed, we should not aloow those with such violent past offences to own businesses like pet shios, where they are very likely to come into contact with young people, and can use their " gang connections" to instil fear in thier customers, in addition to having defenceless animals at their mercy.
Those were his exact words published in the newspaper. after reading it, i felt a need to do justice to the rapist owning a pet shop though i have no connections with him whatsoever. Firstly mr joel said, rapist blah blah blah.. to pet shop the first sentence. For a rapist to get 16 years in jail and 10 strokes of the cane is not something to joke about, okay he has made a mistake and raped a young victim but how does the author know that he shows absolutely no remorse over the matter? surely after the 10 strokes of the cane, your remorse will spill out like the blood on yr backside liao. So he has history of crime violence and gangster activities, does that give Mr Joel the right to blacklist him in society? Has Mr Joel done nothing wrong in his life? I dont mean killing or burning people's houses but little things like lying and cheating? If His life is so perfect that he has no wrongdoings too, i can accept it that he openly accuse and points his finger at such a man. But if he has wrongdoings too, should he be blacklisted in society too? For there is no greater wrong or lesser wrong, wrong is wrong and he who has no sin can cast the first stone.
secondly, he said that the pet shop would like clientele of young children, this i can agree, as more pet owners are indeed getting younger, but what was he trying to hint? that he would rape his young customers? for when you read on you can see that he didnt explain that point until the last part when he said that they are likely to come into contact with young people. So what does Mr joel want the rapist to do? lock himself in insolation and avoid all contacts with young children for he will instantly feel the urge to rape them? i think Mr joel is being very narrow in his viewpoint by saying this sentence.
thirdly, he said, no one knows what hurt or harm he had done to the animals under his care. Again what is his point in making this sentence? stirring up suspicion and doubt in the readers heart? or just proving that he is making such an assumption that when you look at it deeply, you can see the naiveness in the writer?ponder upon that
next point would be he said" in some countries, former offenders are not allowed to own businesses" By saying that, he is blantantly trying to discourage the chance of letting offenders start afresh again, he is trying to say that hey, other countries are doing it, so why not in Singapore. It was a very weak point as he did not list out the countries, making him lacking evidence in his argument.Singapore cane ppl on the backside, does that make other countries follow suit? no! if Mr Joel is not happy with the policies that the government has drawn up, he can jolly well pat his backside and go north.
Next Ironically he says that he believes that ex offenders should be given a chance to turn over a new leaf and that they should be employed. Now it is hard enough trying to employ offenders giving the kiasi situation in Singapore. So why not make them employers? will there be such a vast difference if i withheld them from being employers and only restrict them to being employees?
The best part of his argument comes " we should not allow ......can use their "gang connections"
to instil fear in their customers , in addition to having defenceless animals at their mercy"
THis is pure BULLSHIT! when i read this, i was wondering if the person who submitted his feedback had a mind of a dimwit. he has made a sweeping statement that all rapist have gangster power and can force the customers to fear them. what the hell is that man, if you are a customer in a pet shop, would you buy a dog just cause the shop owner uses his gangster stare or his connections to threaten you? If he wanted to do that, he would have became a loanshark and not a pet shop owner right, what the hell is wrong with you Mr joel? were you ever afraid of the shop owner before? more likely it was the other way round. Last part to sum it up, havint defencless animals at their mercy, so the rapist owns a pet shop, and what does he do? sell pets right? so if he mutilates his pets, would anyone be sane enough to buy? wont he be making a loss? Mr joel says as if he owns a pet shop so he can toy with the animals and abuse them. Does mr joel know that animals can attack back if provoked? just hit a stray cat on the road and see what happens, and i would say that defenceless is not suitable anymore.
SO the bottom line is, if you have a weak argument and screwed up imberciles mind, dont put yr name to shame by writing on the forum in ST, for it will just be an object of humiliation for others like me

JC students taking the poly route
The average students (def: L1R5 >20) from the 'o' lvls are screaming that they cannot get a place in the coverted courses in poly and are thus forced to take the courses that they dont want. while the top students in the o lvl's are saying mockingly that since they scored well, they get the right to push those weaklings off the courses they want. Harsh it may sound but i do agree with the top scorers, since you did better, naturally you can get into your choice of selection. My solution to all the average kiddos there? RETAKE YOUR O LVL LA! seriously do better and get into your dream course, if you are not cut out for it, you probably wont survive in the poly course that you want even if it crushes yr dreams and slices off your soaring wings. Pick yourself up and study something else, surely everyone has other talents, its just if you discover them soon enough before you grow old.
But i do despise those top scorers for making such cutting remarks on the newspaper and adding insult to injury, they had a photo of themselves. Bet you those average students will etch the faces into memory and assult them on sight after this article. If you do well, dont boast and say something that everyone doesnt like to hear like" o its my right to choose, o i studied so i deserve it" we all know that very well and we dont need you all to rub salt into our wounded pride. so my advice to all this smart asses on the street? WATCH YOUR BACK!
Anyways i went to cell group yesterday, and i learnt something that cannot be found in ten year series or textbooks. That is whatever you achieve now, is all Gods grace, he gives them to you, so it doesnt mean if i study hard i will surely get the results i want. You will only get it if God gives it to you, and like the Curse of the golden flower quote" what you cannot have, you cannot snatch" when chow yan fatt spoke to jay chou. Same applies in life, its all Gods grace that you have what you have now, if He said stop, what would you survive on? ponder on that
tomorrows the start of lecture week in PJC, really hope i have a good class that provides good support to my A levels. BUt in my heart, i think 4c1 06 is still the best!

Just slept from 6pm yesterday to 9 am today. Guess this is what happens when u stay up late for the past two nights. I even felt the effect of not sleeping much on the second day of the chalet at night when my classmates were playing BUrnout on Xbox. My senses were like half a beat slow, when the car crashed in the game, it took me one second to realise it. This chalet was pretty fun though we had a bunch of ah bengs for our neighbour. Not like those fake ah bengs but real ones with tatoo. Scary to stay beside them as we are all good students with no connections with the underworld and as such when we were at such close aproximity with Them, it really scared us bad. It was great to be back with my ex-class again, nothing has changed much, everyones personality is still the same. CHalet life can be summarised in three words, Eat, Sleep and DS. It was just a cycle of going out to eat, then sleeping or playing Nintendo DS. Luckily i brought it along if not everyone would be dead bored in a spartan chalet room. Wow i must mention the toilet. Before the swarm of people arrived, i was actually the first to enter the chalet. I was looking at the toilet and saying, wow this is not bad, it has nice decorations and layout. After the chalet, wham! the toilet was so gross that people didnt dare to venture in anymore and bathing at the public toilet was becoming top piority. Hahas thats the funny part about chalet, although you dont think individually you would dirty the toilet so badly, after two days you look and the toilet and go ewww.
After the chalet i went to khai enns house along with chloe. Her dog was not very bold with strangers. It was shy and kept. Wonder why was that. Then i played Sims on khai's computer and built a house spelling my name and got the -.- look from khai. nothing much funny or interesting to blog nowadays, lifes getting mudane. Looking forward to singing english songs in Choir now, since the SYF pieces are like one japanese, one russian and one without words, just the tune. lastly hope that my throat is ready for wednesdays choir practice. =)
